Barnahus: Supporting child victims of sexual abuse in Slovenia and Finland

Barnahus, a leading European initiative dedicated to supporting child victims of sexual abuse, has opened its doors in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with a goal of addressing 200 cases annually. In Finland, Barnahus is implemented around the core of five university hospital expert units specialising in forensic psychology/psychiatry.

The project addressed legislative gaps by advocating for a Barnahus-specific law, improved the quality of the justice system's response to child sexual violence, and innovated in terms of professional training, including forensic interviews supported by AI.
