As part of the ongoing HELP Course on Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, a mid-course was organized for law students of Faculty of Law-University of Pristina to discuss gender aspects of violence against women and how it is addressed in Kosovo*.
The event was facilitated by HELP course tutor Arberita Kryeziu, and it featured welcoming remarks from Merita Limani, Council of Europe Local Project Manager, and from Prof. Ass. Dr. Avni Puka, the Dean of Law Faculty-University of Pristina. Whereas, Edi Gusia, the Head of Agency for Gender Equality offered her remarks and an insightful lecture about the mandate of the Agency for Gender Equality and on the violence against women as gender issue and how it is addressed in Kosovo*.
The topic of this mid-course was of high interest for law students, and they addressed many questions during the discussion session regarding gender equality policy, gender-based violence and how it is addressed from the authorities as part of the response and adjudication mechanisms, and on aspects of societal behaviors that are affecting an increase in violence against women.
This mid-course is part of the ongoing HELP course on violence against women and domestic violence that is being implemented for 28 law students from the Council of Europe project "Reinforcing the fight against violence against women and domestic violence - phase II" in cooperation with Faculty of Law-University of Pristina.
