8 December 2026 Mexico City, Mexico

 ABOUT THE EVENT

Organised by the Pompidou Group of the Council of Europe, under the Mexican Vice-Presidency of the Pompidou Group, in co-operation with the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD) of the Organization of American States (OAS).

Against a rapidly evolving drug landscape, the Regional Thematic Seminar will bring together law enforcement professionals, policymakers and experts from across the region and beyond to examine emerging challenges related to synthetic drugs and strengthen international cooperation.

The Seminar will:

  • Provide a platform for policy and operational dialogue on emerging synthetic drug trends, precursor diversion, illicit manufacturing, and the detection and dismantling of clandestine laboratories.
  • Promote operational intelligence-sharing and the exchange of good practices among regional and international experts.
  • Strengthen partnerships, information-sharing and coordinated responses, while identifying opportunities for future cooperation and innovative approaches.

Discussions will continue at the 3rd Law Enforcement Conference on Drug Trafficking, Organised Crime Networks and International Co-operation, organised by the Pompidou Group and taking place on 9–10 December 2026 at the same venue.

The Conference will broaden the discussion to the evolving challenges posed by drug trafficking and organised crime networks, bringing together regional and international perspectives and promoting innovation, stronger partnerships and effective international co-operation.

Three days in Mexico City. Two complementary events. One shared objective: strengthening international co-operation to respond to an increasingly complex and fast-changing drug landscape.
