The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under the UN 2030 Agenda call on all States to implement comprehensive policies and strategies that promote sustainable development. Supporting strategies and cooperation in national efforts to fulfil SDGs is one of the expressed priorities in the Pompidou Group's work programme.

As the first action Mexico launched the initiative to hold an international conference on aligning drug policies with SDGs in cooperation with the Pompidou Group in late 2019.

This widely acclaimed event has led to a series of ‘Key messages’ which are now disseminated. These conclusions support all national efforts in aligning drug policies with sustainable development, and provide inspiration for next activities aimed at reaching those goals.
