Council of Europe ICC expert visit to Riga

On 19-20 March 2024, experts from the Council of Europe’s Intercultural Cities (ICC) Programme are visiting Riga, the first Latvian city that joined the ICC Network.

A member of the Council of Europe Secretariat General and an independent ICC expert are meeting the Deputy Mayor, city officials, representatives of the municipality, and a wide range of local stakeholders active in different areas related to intercultural integration, in order to review and discuss the city's strengths and needs in relation to intercultural integration policies and governance.

The programme of the visit includes a presentation of the Council of Europe’s intercultural integration model to representatives of public authorities and civil society, and meetings at the Riga Support Center for Ukrainian Residents, Riga NGO house and the Youth Centre, and with the Education, Culture and Sports Department of Riga Municipality.

The visit will result in a report drawing up the “intercultural profile” of the city and providing tailor-made recommendations as a basis for subsequent work.

Riga joined the Intercultural Cities (ICC) Programme in February 2023.
