The Conference of INGOs commemorates the fight against Poverty

On the occasion of the autumn session of the Conference of INGOs, its members gathered on the Stone, symbolising the refusal of extreme poverty, in front of the Palais de l’Europe to commemorate the International Poverty Day (17 October) one week ahead of the event to celebrate 30 years of mobilisation by European civil society and the Council of Europe to affirm that long-term poverty is a violation of human rights.

To mark the event Ambassador Caitriona Doyle unveiled an information board with the English message of the Human Rights Stone against Poverty offered by Permanent Representation of Ireland to the Council of Europe. This plaque was initiated by the Conference of INGOs, which remembers the fight against poverty every year with a ceremony at the stone and an associated event.
