Joint meeting of the EUR-OPA Committee of Permanent Correspondents and the Directors of Specialised Centres - 2018

 

The Committee of Permanent Correspondents and the Directors of Specialised Centres of the EUR-OPA held a joint meeting on 6-7 November 2018 in Zagreb (Croatia), in the framework of the Croatian chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. The meeting was opened by Mr. Dragan Lozancic, Director General of the National Protection and Rescue Directorate of Croatia in the presence of Ms. Vesna Baus, Minister Plenipotentiary, Head of Department for Regional International Organisations and Initiatives, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia.

The participants discussed in particular the restructuring of the Agreement and identifed new priorities of work for 2019. They also examined the outcomes of the projects carried out by the Centres in 2018 and the activities planned for 2019.

The Director of Centre presented the project 2018 activities. This included chairing a high-level roundtable in Greece, in its capacity as a EUR-OPA specialised centre, focusing on the establishment of an independent commission on the Future of Fire Management in Greece, in August 2018. Other high-level meetings on fire management were also held in Moscow, focusing on the role and perspectives of fire management in the region, in Portugal looking into increasing landscape hazards, with extensive work carried out in Eurasia including Belarus, Mongolia, Ukraine and Russian Federation.
