Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen is the current Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and National Administration in Kenya. He was appointed to this position on December 19, 2024, by President William Samoei Ruto. Murkomen has a rich background in politics and law, having served as the Senator for Elgeyo Marakwet and previously as Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, as well as Roads and Transport. His legislative contributions include sponsoring the Urban Areas and Cities Amendment Bill (2017) and the Food Security Bill (2017). Murkomen has also been involved in various leadership programs and has lectured at several institutions, including the University of Nairobi and Moi University. His academic credentials include a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Nairobi, a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law, and two Master of Laws degrees from American University and the University of Pretoria.
