Dr Ifeoma E. Nwafor is a Cyber and AI policy advisor, technology lawyer and academic. She is the Lead Consultant and Principal Partner at IEN Legal Associates, a law firm specialising in technology law, data protection, privacy and AI policy, providing strategic guidance to a wide range of clients, including governments, organisations, and industrialists. Dr Nwafor is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Godfrey Okoye University, Nigeria. She has served as a European Union Erasmus+ Scholar at the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law, TH Köln, Germany. She was a Visiting Professor/Researcher at the Faculty of Law and Criminology, KU Leuven, Belgium, in 2023. She has published extensively in the fields of cyberlaw, AI ethics and policy. She was called to the Nigerian bar in 2006. Dr Nwafor co-founded Decybr Incorporation, a technology platform that offers an extensive database of national and international legal resources on cybercrime, AI, and technology law.
Dr Nwafor is a respected international voice in African AI Governance and Cyber Law. She has served as a legal expert in several capacities, including the UNODC Legislative Guide on Combating Fraud and the UNODC Public-Private Partnerships Toolkit against Organised Fraud.
