GLACY+: Workshop to streamline procedures for mutual legal assistance in Cape Verde

The GLACY+ Project in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice of Cape Verde organised on 20-21 June 2022 in Praia, Cape Verde., an advisory workshop for streamlining the procedures for mutual legal assistance related to cybercrime and electronic evidence.

The workshop aimed to promote more effective and efficient international cooperation by identifying ways to speed up and rationalise the procedures for mutual legal assistance (MLA), as well as strengthening the role of the 24/7 point of contact. The workshop was also an opportunity to assess the current needs of the criminal justice authorities of Cape Verde and address them with further capacity-building support through the GLACY+ project.

The advisory workshop was led by two international experts from Portugal and provided a framework for interactive and constructive discussions and debates. The 25 participants represented the Prosecutor’s Office,, 24/7 point of contact, central authority for MLA, and other institutions with responsibilities on this topic.

Cape Verde acceded to the Budapest Convention in 2018 and since then has benefited from capacity building support as a priority country for the GLACY+ project.

This workshop will be immediately followed by the delivery of the specialised judicial training on international cooperation.
