GLACY+: Strong participation of public authorities in Paraguay in a judicial training on cybercrime

The GLACY+ Project in cooperation with the Public Ministry of Paraguay organised on 14-17 of June 2022 an introductory training course on cybercrime and electronic evidence for around 25 judges, prosecutors and police officers from Paraguay.

The course was delivered in a shared and cooperative manner by an international expert, a trainer from Dominican Republic, in collaboration with four national trainers from Paraguay. The course focused on basic concepts on cybercrime and electronic evidence, provisions of the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime and national legislation. The training covered as well various practical cases that engaged the participants in a fruitful exchange of ideas.

Similar judicial training courses are being delivered in all priority countries of the GLACY+ project.

Improving the capacities of criminal justice authorities in relation to cybercrime and electronic evidence can be a crucial factor in contributing to the successful prosecutions and conviction on cybercrime cases or any other criminal cases involving electronic evidence.

Paraguay acceded to the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime in 2017 and since 2019 has been a priority country for the GLACY+ Project. More workshops for enhancing the country’s capacity to fight cybercrime will be delivered in the coming period.
