The CyberSouth project participated to the 3rd edition of the ‘Arab Cybersecurity Forum on Protecting Personal Data in the Age of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence’, held on 5 December 2023, in Tunis, Tunisia.
Organised by the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organisation (AICTO), under the aegis of the League of Arab States, this edition focused on the latest updates on threats and vulnerabilities that the Arab countries are currently facing, as well as sharing strategies and best practices on how to mitigate these cyber threats and challenges. Participants also examined existing legal frameworks for data protection in the region and shared best practices to support Arab countries to develop their domestic legislations and strategies aimed at safeguarding data privacy and security, based on international standards.
The event provided the opportunity to strengthen the co-operation with the League of Arab States and discuss possible synergies under the new phase of the joint European Union/ Council of Europe project - CyberSouth+.
