CyberSouth: Further commitment from priority countries at the 7th Project Steering Committee

The Council of Europe and the European Commission organized online the 7th Steering Committee meeting of CyberSouth project, on the 9th of December, gathering representatives of the partner institutions from project’s priority countries (Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia) and from the National Romanian Police, as project partner.

The meeting started with the revision of the  activities implemented since the previous Steering Committee, including in-country, regional and international workshops on topics like the Second Additional Protocol to the Budapest Convention, judicial training of trainers or cybercrime reporting mechanism, as well as desk studies on first responders to cybercrime investigations and law enforcement training strategy.

The representatives of the priority countries shared the progress made during the same period and emphasized how the project contributed to their achievements.

An important topic of discussion was the approved no-cost extension of the project until December 2023, to which countries expressed their commitments, endorsing the workplan for the next six months and putting forward proposals to be included in it.

The next CyberSouth Steering Committee will take place in June 2022.
