Cybercrime

CyberEast+, a joint endeavour of the Council of Europe and of the European Union, supported the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in organising the Intermediate-Level Training for law enforcement officers dealing with cybercrime investigations and computer forensics. The course, which was hosted on the Council of Europe CYBOX Platform initiated under the Octopus Project, focused on practical information about cybercrime investigations, computer forensic tools and their immediate impact on the daily tasks of the Ukrainian police.

Over 28 law enforcement officials, alongside trainers and staff of the Academy, some of whom had attended the First Responder Training in February 2025, engaged in a series of practical exercises designed to enhance their  competences in handling cybercrime cases and collection of electronic evidence. Participants learned about the protocols and techniques on analysing volatile data through open-source intelligence (OSINT).  The last day of the course was focusing on investigations pertaining to money laundering, ransomware payments and dark web marketplaces.

The CyberEast+ project will continue to support partner authorities from Ukraine through continuous and specialised trainings on cybercrime and electronic evidence, in line with the Convention on Cybercrime ( Budapest Convention) and its Second Additional Protocol.
