Cybercrime

Successful international co-operation in criminal cases involving electronic evidence relies on thorough understanding and use of the tools and channels offered by the Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention) and its Second Additional Protocol on enhanced co-operation and disclosure of electronic evidence. These were the topics addressed by the training on the application of co-operation provisions under the Second Protocol, which took place on 11-12 November 2024 in Chisinau, Moldova.

The exercise was organised by the Prosecutor’s Office , the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova  and supported by the CyberEast+ project, a joint venture of the Council of Europe and of the European Union.

This course brought togheter the representatives of the criminal justice system working on cybercrime and e-evidence investigations as well as of the National Institute of Justice and the Stefan cel Mare Police Academy.

During the final day of the training, the Moldovan counterparts tackled a practical case scenario  following step by step the aquisition of digital evidence through international co-operation mechanisms.

The CyberEast+ project is committed to enhance co-operation on the basis of the Second Protocol to the Budapest Convention in the region by supporting the criminal justice authorities and 24/7 Points of Contact of the Republic of Moldova with sustainable training programmes on legislative international standards.
