CyberEast, a joint project of the European Union and of the Council of Europe, in co-operation with Police, Security services and the Prosecutor’s Office training institution of Ukraine, organised a four-day exercise on cybercrime and electronic evidence in Suceava, Romania. This course was designed to strengthen the skills and capacities of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and prosecutors involved in cybercrime investigations and handling of electronic evidence on the basis of the Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention).
Mr Jan KERKHOFS and Mr Catalin ZETU, Council of Europe international experts, facilitated the exercise, focusing on cutting-edge methods of handling electronic evidence and digital forensics through a variety of practical tasks and assignments covering the range of threats and technology relevant for cybercrime and e-evidence investigations. This was also an opportunity to showcase to national trainers from law enforcement and prosecution training institutions in Ukraine the functionalities and practical uses of the Council of Europe Online Training Platform for Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence, developed by the Octopus Project, which is expected to be made available at the end of August 2023.
The CyberEast Project is committed to assisting Ukrainian training institutions to refine their national courses on cybercrime and electronic evidence, in view of a closer harmonisation with the training approach of the Council of Europe.
