Ângela Cristina Marques Rodrigues is a distinguished Cabo Verdean Judicial Magistrate with nearly two decades of experience in the justice system. She currently serves as a District Judge at the Court of Enforcement of Sentences and Security Measures in Sotavento, where she oversees critical matters related to criminal justice and rehabilitation. Throughout her career, she has held several key judicial roles, including Judge Auditor of the Military Court of First Instance and Chairman of the Committee of Professional Licences for Journalists.
Judge Rodrigues has represented Cabo Verde in numerous international forums, particularly in areas of cybercrime, judicial cooperation, and gender-based violence. As a national focal point for the Council of Europe’s GLACY+ Programme and the Human Trafficking Observatory, she contributes actively to advancing digital justice and human rights.
Beyond the bench, she is an experienced trainer and lecturer, having taught Criminal Law at the Institute of Legal and Social Sciences and led capacity-building initiatives for magistrates, police, and social technicians. A graduate in Law from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto, she is also an advocate for ethical governance, gender equity, and social reintegration. Fluent in Portuguese, with working knowledge of English and French, she exemplifies leadership, integrity, and dedication to public service.
