Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe (Mrs.) is a Justice of the Court of Appeal of Ghana. She is an alumna of Aburi Girls’ Senior High School where she obtained her “O” and “A” Levels and the University of Ghana, Legon, where she earned her LLB (Hons) in 1994 before being called to the Ghana Bar in 1996. Justice Asare-Botwe also holds an LLM from the University of East London.
Her distinguished career began as a State Attorney in various regions of Ghana, later becoming Regional Head of the Office of the Attorney-General in Sunyani. She was appointed Justice of the High Court in 2013 and elevated to the Court of Appeal in 2022. Justice Asare-Botwe serves as Co-chair of the Criminal Justice Committee and lectures in Criminal Procedure at the Ghana School of Law. She is also a Trainer in Money Laundering and Electronic Evidence for the Council of Europe, the Commonwealth and the Inter-Governmental Action Group for Money Laundering (GIABA) of ECOWAS.
Justice Asare-Botwe is recognised for her innovative contributions to case management and her commitment to judicial training in Ghana and the Africa Region.
