On 13 November, the first meeting of hub countries under the GLACY-e, a joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe took place online, gathering representatives from INTERPOL and the following countries: Chile, Dominican Republic, Ghana, Mauritius, Philippines, and Sri Lanka. The event focused on reviewing the achievements and shaping future actions in cybercrime capacity building.
From September 2023 to October 2024, the hub countries were engaged in around 88 capacity-building initiatives which involved regional or global outreach, highlighting their pivotal role in advancing cybercrime policies, training, and legislative harmonization. Future priorities include customized actions, regional intelligence groups, and training on emerging topics such as cryptocurrencies and virtual assets, utilizing local strengths to address pressing challenges.
The GLACY-e project reaffirms its dedication to fostering effective South-South and international collaboration in the fight against cybercrime and by empowering hub countries, the project ensures even a better sustainable growth in regional capacity and the development of impactful strategies against cybercrime threats.
