Culture: past activities

C4i-Communication for Integration, co-funded by the Council of Europe and the European Commission (European Integration Fund), targeted prejudices, rumours and stereotypes by using viral information techniques to provide evidence-based answers to common misconceptions.
The project "Cultural Resources for Roma inclusion" financed by the European Commission and the Council of Europe aimed at replicating in 5 Roma settlements in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, "former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia", Hungary and Slovenia the model successfully implemented in Kamenci (Slovenia) where the Roma inhabitants have been supported in organising and setting up a multidimensional cultural enterprise within their village through the valorisation and reinterpretation of their cultural heritage (music, poetry, legends, gardening, etc.) and creating a museum of Roma heritage which attracted visitors and thus generated income.
The Council of Europe’s CultureWatchEurope Initiative (CWE) offered innovative and evidence-based overviews of culture, heritage and media developments in Europe, adding value to the Organisation’s existing information tools, programmes and methods by linking them and by inviting civil society to contribute.
DELI, co-funded by the Council of Europe and the European Integration Fund, fostered more efficient local policies in support of migrant-owned SMEs and migrant entrepreneurship as part of wider diversity and inclusion policies.
The aim of the European Academic Network on Romani Studies was to support efforts towards the social inclusion of Romani citizens in Europe. The project facilitated intercultural dialogue and raised the visibility of existing research outside the academic community in order to foster cooperation with policymakers and other stakeholders
Europe has a long tradition of state support for the film industry. Although practices vary between countries, in general the European film-making model privileges creativity over commercial success and puts the bulk of state efforts on production rather than on distribution.
MEDIANE – Media in Europe for Diversity Inclusiveness offered European and Thematic encounters as a first step for sharing practices, but also the opportunity for media outlets and professionals to share professional practices directly on an one-to-one basis, through "European Exchanges of Media Practices" (EEMPs).
The MARS Online Resource Centre is an online platform providing material on media, diversity and non-discrimination. This includes practice examples from the areas of media production, journalism and media training, media literacy education and editorial management; Council of Europe references , and selected web content on diversity and non-discrimination.
