The fifth workshop of CEFR Online Workshop Series 2022 entitled “Assessing plurilingualism: An example from practice" took place on Thursday, 2 June 2022.
This workshop aimed to present one path taken to assess plurilingual competence. It focused on the guiding principles, format, task design and assessment criteria. It continued with a discussion in small groups on examples of tasks designed either for high-stakes exams or a national language competition, exploring their links with the cited concepts and with the revised descriptors.
The workshop was moderated by Belinda Steinhuber. Ms Steinhuber is head of the language education department within CEBS, an institution affiliated to the Vocational Education and Training section of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education. She has a leading role in the promotion of plurilingualism and intercultural competence in vocational language teaching, which includes the design of plurilingual exams and teaching materials, and participates in several other assessment projects. She holds an MA in Professional Development for Language Education and is involved in projects such as the implementation of educational standards and curriculum design. She is a teacher trainer and teaches English and French at an upper secondary vocational college.
