Following up on the activities delivered in the previous phases of the project, the SEJIV Action restarted court coaching activities on 31 May -1 June 2023, with the Appeal Court (general jurisdiction) and the Court of First Instance in Durres.

The CEPEJ experts reviewed judicial statistics collected in line with the new “Guide for a unified methodology for the collection of judicial data”, which was approved by High Judicial Council of Albania during the previous phase and with support of the Action.

After the initial assessment, which will be carried out on the basis of these statistics and the use of CEPEJ performance indicators, the courts will be accompanied in implementation of relevant CEPEJ tools aiming to improve courts performance, judicial time management and to fight backlog.

These court coaching activities, to be further extended to other Albanian courts, are particularly important after the reorganization of the courts, which took place in the framework of the new judicial map implemented from 1 February 2023.

The activity was organized by the action Strengthening the Quality and Efficiency of Justice in Albania (SEJ IV) in the framework of the European Union/Council of Europe joint programme Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye (Horizontal Facility III), co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
