On 18 May 2018, in Geneva, the first annual Forum of the PACE´s new Parliamentary Network on Diaspora Policies will take place. On 8 February 2018, in Rabat, the Network held its first regional meeting at the invitation of the Moroccan Parliament. Some 80 participants from 22 countries (diaspora associations, MPs, high level government officials, experts and diplomats), shared their experiences during an event entitled “Which type of integration to prevent radicalisation: the role of parliaments and diaspora associations”. The meeting highlighted the importance of enhanced dialogue, cooperation and coordination in host countries to promote diaspora-friendly public policies, better social inclusion for migrants and participation in public life of diaspora communities.

On 26 March 2018, in London, the Sub-Committee on Refugee and Migrant Children and Young People will be holding a hearing at the United Kingdom Parliament around the report by Lord Alexander Dundee on encouraging student movement in Europe. The meeting is organised jointly with the PACE Sub-committee on Culture, Diversity and Heritage.

On 21-22 March 2018, the Parliamentary Assembly Migration Committee will be meeting in Amman at the invitation of the Jordanian Parliament. After an exchange of views with relevant ministries, the committee will discuss the situation in Jordan with UNRWA, UNHCR and IOM, as well as reports on the humanitarian situation of IDPs, the countries neighbouring Syria, on extra-territorial processing of asylum procedures and education as a means of empowering migrant children. Members will also visit the Zaatari refugee camp and hear a presentation of the Intercultural Cities pilot project in Zarqua.
