Flemish Parliament examines the Council of Europe approach to Artificial Intelligence

On the 6th of July, the Brussels-based Flemish Parliament is organising a special hearing on AI. Patrick Penninckx, Head of the Information Society Department of the Council of Europe, and Nathalie Smuha, Researcher Faculty of Law, KU Leuven are presenting the current challenges of artificial intelligence policy as well as potential responses. Hearing is organised by the Commission for Economy, Work, Social Economy, Science and Innovation under the chairmanship of Robrecht Bothuyne. Flemish Parliamentarians will learn about the risks to human rights and rule of law posed by new technologies employing AI and the advancement of the Council of Europe work to elaborate a Convention on the development, design and application of artificial intelligence, based on the Council of Europe’s standards and that is conducive to innovation.
