Advocacy for the rights and social inclusion of young refugees

In the occasion of the World Refugee Day the Youth Department of the Council of Europe organised a training course on advocacy for rights and social inclusion of young refugees. The need for this capacity-building was driven by the demand of young refugees hit by the pandemic, when access to basic rights and services was further restricted or denied. The course is part of the Youth for Democracy programme focus on promoting the implementation of the guidelines in the Recommendation CM/Rec(2019)4 on Supporting Young Refugees in Transition to Adulthood through means of advocacy and campaigning.

The training course increased capacity of the participants to design and implement advocacy actions and encouraged them to become active actors of change at local and national level. The programme covered a range of important blocks starting from understanding the Recommendation as an advocacy tool to designing tailored advocacy solutions.

The training course resulted in 20 advocacy initiatives to be implemented in 2022-2023 by the participants of the course. their organisations and other allies.
