Parliamentary Assembly: upcoming reports and visit to Greece

On 6 November 2020, the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Parliamentary Assembly, will discuss the following reports and Committee opinions:
“Impact of labour migration on left-behind children”, “Role of parliaments in implementing the United Nations global compacts for migrants and refugees”, “Humanitarian action for refugees and migrants in countries in North Africa and the Middle East”, “Safe third countries for asylum seekers” and “Gender mainstreaming of migration policies”.

It will also consider amendments to its reports on “Effective guardianship for unaccompanied and separated migrant children” and on “Rights and obligations of NGOs assisting refugees and migrants in Europe”.

The Committee will furthermore discuss a possible visit to Lesbos, Greece, by an Ad Hoc Sub-Committee to carry out a fact-finding visit following the Moria fires, scheduled to take place on 23 November 2020 (subject to sanitary conditions allowing).

Finally, the Committee will be associated with two web conferences organised by individual members of the Migration Committee. The first on voluntary relocation of vulnerable refugees, following up on an earlier webinar organised in the United Kingdom Parliament by Lord Alexander Dundee (United Kingdom, EC/DA), and the second organised by Ms Serap Yaşar (Turkey, NR) on missing child refugee, Grand National Assembly of Turkey, on 11 November 2020.
