Back Strenthening the Dialogue: The Observatory on History Teaching in Europe Meets with Permanent Representations to the Council of Europe

The Chair of the Governing Board of the Observatory on History teaching in Europe (OHTE), Mr Alain Lamassoure, had a series of meetings with Permanent Representatives to the Council of Europe.

The Chair of the Governing Board, Mr Alain Lamassoure, and the OHTE Secretariat, held discussions with several Permanent Representatives to the Council of Europe and the heads of relevant institutions to promote the objectives and the work of the Observatory. 

Mr Lamassoure presented the latest developments, including the election of the Scientific Advisory Council. He explained the programme of activities and answered the questions on different aspects of the mission and outcomes set for the Observatory over the course of the first programming period (2021-2023).

The Permanent Representatives expressed their interest in maintaining a dialogue with the Observatory to explore possible cooperation opportunities related to history education.  

The Chair and the Secretariat also had an online meeting with the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany, the Kultusministerkonferenz (KMK), the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbooks Research. Among the topics of discussion were the complementarity of the Observatory’s work with the new German initiative (the European Forum for Reconciliation and Cooperation in History and Social Sciences Education) and the participation of German institutions in the annual conference of the Observatory in December 2021.
