The ‘Doing it yourself Step by Step guide’ in chapter 7 of We CAN! is a toolbox of tips, tools and tactics. It guides the user through the different phases from analysing hate speech to developing an effective alternative narrative to counter it.

Using the tools as individual hand-outs, the facilitator can guide a group through the different phases and steps of creating a counter or alternative narrative. These Hand-outs help structure the process, document the outcomes and enabling the entire group to participate in developing an effective response to hate speech.
