No Hate Speech Ninja Project

Description: Using mixed-media formats (pictures, memes, videos, posters, etc.) and a number of tactics such as artivism, humour and love speech, the No Hate Speech Ninja Project aims to challenge the viewer with often-heard arguments which fuel hate speech or put forward a positive story. The ‘memes technique’ proved so successful that they organised a tour of posters with memes all over Portugal during 2014 and 2015, and in six countries across Europe. They also produced a five-minute video: No Hate Ninja Project – A Story About Cats, Unicorns and Hate Speech, explaining why hate speech spreads so easily online and why that is a problem. Their resources can serve both for campaigning inspiration and also as tools in educational programmes.
