Mexico City opens its first Centre for Interculturality

With the objective of maintaining and strengthening Mexican roots through a space for the coexistence of the indigenous population and native people who reside in the capital of the country, the Government of Mexico City delivered the first Center for Interculturality, where all inhabitants can disseminate, preserve and develop their traditions and culture.

The Centre for interculturality has 2500 square meters including an auditorium, and outdoor forum, and rooms for workshops, conferences and other events. The auditorium has a capacity for 200 people, fully carpeted, with a stage finished with wooden staves, and a light and sound booth; the walls are covered with rustic flat and acoustic panels. It has two access ramps for people with disabilities.

The building that hosts the Centre for Interculturality was completely refurbished and restored with traditional techniques, in cooperation with the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), with the vision of preserving its cultural heritage value since the building dates from the eighteenth century.
