The 73rd Venice Festival came to a close last Saturday with the Silver Lion for Best Director awarded to the director Andrei Konchalovsky for the German-Russian co-production supported by Eurimages, Rai (Paradise), also rewarded by two collateral awards: the Segnalazione Cinema for UNICEF 2016 and the Padre Nazareno Taddei Prize.
The International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) awarded its prize to the film Une Vie by Stéphane Brizé, a French-Belgian co-production supported by the Eurimages Fund selected in the official competition of the Festival.
Several prizes from the Venice Days section were also awarded to films supported by Eurimages: the Europa Cinemas Label and the Prize for Best First Film for Sami Blood (SE, DK, NO) by Amanda Kernell, the Prize for Best European Film for the co-production entitled Quit Staring At My Plate (HR, DK) by Hana Jusic and finally the Queer Lion for the film Heartstone (IS, DK) by Gudmundur Arnar Gudmundsson.
