Estonia, 7th State to ratify Convention 108+

Yesterday, in the presence of the Deputy Secretary General, Ms Gabriella BATTAINI-DRAGONI, Ambassador Rasmus LUMI, Permanent Representative of Estonia to the Council of Europe deposited the instrument of ratification of the Amending Protocol to the Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to the Processing of Personal Data (CETS 223).

Estonia has been Party to Convention 108 since 1 March 2002; it became yesterday the 7th State to ratify modernised Convention 108.

The entry into force of Convention 108+ is crucial in the digital age and therefore we hope that many other ratifications will follow this year to enable the rapid entry into force of this modernised landmark instrument.
