A Specialised Course on International Co-operation for Albanian judges and prosecutors was delivered within the framework of the EU-CoE Joint Project iPROCEEDS-2 between 31 January – 1 February 2023. Back-to-back with the course, a workshop on Sharing Electronic Evidence in International Investigations took place on 1 February.
Addressed to magistrates specialised in cybercrime cases or international judicial co-operation, to representatives of the Justice Academy and to national trainers, the course was a step forward to further develop the participants’ knowledge regarding the existing legal framework and international practice for cross-border co-operation in cybercrime cases and exchanging electronic evidence, as provided by the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime and the Second Additional Protocol to this treaty.
The workshop on Sharing Electronic Evidence in International Investigations raised the magistrates’ level of understanding of the tools and provisions to investigate cybercrime cases and walked them, step by step, through the process of collecting digital evidence using international co-operation mechanisms, based on a case study of a cybercrime with implications in several jurisdictions.
iPROCEEDS-2 project will continue to support priority countries/area criminal justice authorities in enhancing their capacities related to investigating cybercrime, handling electronic evidence and cooperating internationally, as these can provide the conditions for an adequate response to online offences and better protection of human rights online.
