Hon. Justice Bensaoula Chafika of Algeria has served as a Judge of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights since 2017 and was re-elected for a second six-year term in 2023. She was elected Vice-President of the Court on 2 June 2025 for a two-year term. She holds a Doctorate in Public Law and has extensive experience in Algeria’s judiciary and administration, including serving as a judge, court inspector, and adviser to the Minister of Justice.
