A second group of Brazilian judges has completed the introductory course on cybercrime and electronic evidence, held in Rio de Janeiro from 23 to 25 September 2026 with the support of the Council of Europe’s GLACY-e project, co-financed by the European Union and the Council of Europe. The course brought together 24 judges from different national jurisdictions as part of a broader programme to strengthen a national pool of judicial trainers in Brazil. 
Over three days, participants examined the provisions of the Convention on Cybercrime and its protocols, the fundamentals of the internet, digital evidence and new technologies, against their correspondence from the Brazilian legislation.
The course also addressed safeguards and conditions applicable to procedural powers, international co-operation, the chain of custody of electronic evidence, and the admissibility of such evidence, including relevant European and Brazilian case law. 
The training was delivered by Council of Europe experts, with contributions from Brazilian experts, previously trained under the GLACY-e project, and enabled participants to connect international standards and good practices with the Brazilian legal context. 
The activity was part of the GLACY-e project’s efforts to equip criminal justice authorities with the knowledge and skills needed to apply legislation, adjudicate cybercrime and electronic-evidence cases, and engage in international co-operation in line with human rights and rule of law standards.
