CyberSPEX project: EJCN masterclass on the Second Additional Protocol

On 25 September 2026 the CyberSPEX project contributed to the European Judicial Cybercrime Network (EJCN) masterclasses, by sharing insights on the Second Additional Protocol (2AP) to the Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention) and by introducing the newly designed 2AP Model Training Course.

The masterclass brought together representatives of judicial authorities from EU member states to explore the 2AP’s mechanisms for international co-operation and disclosure of electronic evidence (Article 6 -  domain name registration information, Article 7 - subscriber information, Article 8 - giving effect to orders, Article 9 and 10 -  emergency procedures) and offered a comprehensive comparison with the EU e-Evidence package.

The presented 2AP Model Training Course is intended to support Parties’ national capacity building efforts by providing a ready-to-use toolbox, including a five-hour online course, a two-day in-person training for practitioners, a handbook, and guidelines for co-operation templates.

The activity strengthened the knowledge of the  participants in the implementation and further application of the mechanisms and key provisions of the Second Additional Protocol and served for the preparation of the CyberSPEX – EJCN Workshop as part of the forthcoming Octopus Conference 2026.
