The CyberSouth+ project, a joint initiative of the European Union and the Council of Europe, organised an online workshop on virtual assets for criminal justice professionals in Palestine* on 12 August 2026.
The session followed up on the April 2025 workshop on investigating the illegal use of virtual assets, and was designed to deepen participants’ knowledge and address specific questions raised since the previous workshop, reflecting their growing experience.
The agenda combined local and international perspectives, covering the application of relevant legal frameworks, emerging trends, and the challenges faced in investigating virtual asset crimes at domestic level. CyberSouth+ experts presented on the technical and legal dimensions of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and cryptocurrency seizure, illustrated through a real case study.
The 30 participating prosecutors and investigators engaged actively throughout the workshop, combining theoretical input with case-based discussion to strengthen both their expertise and their ability to address practical challenges.
The CyberSouth+ project remains ready to support the authorities of Palestine in strengthening domestic legislation and operational capabilities to fight cybercrime and investigate the illegal use of virtual assets and other criminal acts.
