On 28 January 2025, a delegation of the Cybercrime Programme Office of the Council of Europe (C-PROC), based in Bucharest met the Minister of Justice of Romania, Radu Marinescu, to discuss further cooperation on cybercrime.
The meeting was an opportunity to recall the work of C-PROC, the significant role of the Ministry of Justice within the Cybercrime Convention Committee (T-CY) for many years, and avenues to implement and make use of new tools for enhanced cooperation and disclosure of electronic evidence provided by the Second Protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime and by the European Union’s e-evidence regulation and directive.
The delegation of the Council of Europe expressed its readiness to provide further support in this respect, in particular through the CyberSPEX project.
Romania is one of the 78 Parties to the Convention on Cybercrime and one of the 48 signatories of the Second Additional Protocol ever since its opening for signature in May 2022.
