The Council of Europe Amicale is an organisation that brings together staff from the European institutions based in Strasbourg, as well as their families and certain external partner members. It currently has around 2 000 members representing 46 nationalities.

Established in its current form in 2004, it was founded with the aim of strengthening ties between staff members beyond the workplace. Its aim is to foster cohesion, camaraderie and intercultural exchange through a wide range of activities: language courses, sport, music, literature, cultural events and social gatherings.

The Amicale also plays a role in fostering openness towards Strasbourg’s local community. Through partnerships with local and European organisations, it acts as a genuine bridge between the European institutions and the residents of Strasbourg and the surrounding region.

The Amicale is a place for meeting, exchanging ideas and sharing experiences, which helps to bring the European spirit to life on a daily basis by bringing together people from very diverse cultures and backgrounds around shared interests.
