Library
Hidden away in the basement of the Palais de l’Europe is a secret place: the Amicale Library!
It contains over 5,000 books, mainly novels and thrillers, but also travelogues, biographies and other works. The Staff Library lends books in English and French to members of the Amicale free of charge.
In 2024, the library bought over 100 new books in English and French, selected by our volunteers. There’s always something for everyone!
The Amicale library has a website that gives you online access to the entire catalogue. You can:
- Find out what’s new this month
- Consult the catalogue of books available in French and English
- Create your personal account
- Reserve books
- Rate and comment on books

To have paid the annual subscription to the Council of Europe Amicale
Free of charge (Amicale membership entitles holders to participate at no extra cost)
Rates
- Any book returned late will incur a fine of €1 per book per week, with a maximum of €5 per book.
Schedules
Opening hours: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12.15pm to 1pm.
Just go down the stairs opposite the newsagent, turn left and follow the signs. We’re next to the projection room.
