The Council of Europe CHESS CLUB currently has more than 50 members from various buildings (PALAIS – NPDH – AGORA – EDQM).
Among the activities offered, classes are taught by an instructor from the Strasbourg Chess Club at a rate of 9 classes per quarter (except July, August, and September), for a nominal fee. Classes are held on Tuesdays from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Palais – Office 1146 (near the prayer room).
The CHESS CLUB regularly organizes tournaments within the Council of Europe where its members can compete against one another. Simultaneous games (in which members play against a Grandmaster) are also organized and are open to all Council staff (whether or not they are members of the CHESS CLUB).
CHESS CLUB members are, of course, also welcome to play casual games in a friendly atmosphere at the Parliamentarians’ Bar in the Palace of Europe, using the chessboards provided free of charge.
As license holders of the Strasbourg Chess Club, CHESS CLUB members are authorized to visit its premises in downtown Strasbourg to take on new opponents (http://cercledechecsdestrasbourg.net/).
