The Amicale is delighted to announce the launch of a new Body Art course starting in September 2026! A survey is available to determine which day the classes will take place : New Activity: Body Art Classes. Your feedback is therefore greatly appreciated!
Body Art is a concept that emerged around thirty years ago in Switzerland, developed by a collective of professionals specialising in body arts and therapeutic body practices (dance, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, yoga, Pilates, physiotherapy), notably Robert Steinbacher (dancer) and Alexandra Lê (shiatsu practitioner).
It is a comprehensive and holistic functional training programme that aims to ensure the whole body functions properly through muscle strengthening and the stabilisation of the entire musculoskeletal system (bones, muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments and fascia). The practice is rooted in the balancing principles of traditional Chinese medicine (yin and yang) and breathing techniques that promote concentration and mental relaxation, as well as mind-body synergy.
Through a carefully selected and thoughtfully coordinated sequence of exercises and postures, the body breaks free from bad habits and improves its posture, strength, stability and flexibility. In short, Body Art is an extremely comprehensive form of training for both body and mind.
