The ‘LGBTQIA+ Equality in Diversity’ section of the Staff Amicale invites everyone to two special events featuring author Delphine Philbert on 18 June 2026:
1. From 12.30pm to 1.30pm, join us for the presentation of the novel “Dreaming of Another World” with author Delphine Philbert, as part of a discussion led by Emma Smith.
This event will be an opportunity to discover the author’s background, the motivations that led her to writing, and the perspectives that inform her literary work and her activist commitment. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A with the audience, a talk by the Staff Amicale, and a brief introduction to the workshop taking place immediately afterwards.
2. From 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm, join a themed workshop, organised as part of the official programme of the 2026 No Hate Speech Week, on the topic of ‘Dreaming of Another World, free from discrimination and hatred based on sex, gender identity and gender expression – from the current realities in Europe towards a world of freedom and respect for human rights, and how to achieve it’.
This workshop explores ways of building a world free from discrimination, hatred and violence based on sex, gender identity and gender expression, taking Delphine Philbert’s book “Dreaming of Another World” as its starting point. The debate, in which several representatives of the Council of Europe will take part, will focus on recent backlashes, the prospects for a more inclusive and egalitarian society, and the role of international organisations such as the Council of Europe in combating hate speech. Participants will also exchange ideas on what individuals and organisations can do to promote equality and human rights, before joining an informal networking discussion.
To attend the book launch, external people to the Council of Europe must register by sending an email by 16 June 12h to: [email protected], stating in the subject line ‘participation in the meeting with Delphine Philbert’.
Participation in the thematic workshop is open to those already registered to take part in the No Hate Speech Week, or to Council of Europe staff.
An official ID document will be required to gain access to the Council of Europe premises.
Both events will take place in French, in Room 05 of the Palais de l’Europe, Council of Europe.
