Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland is visiting Moscow on 6-7 December 2016 with an official visit to meet with the President Vladimir Putin, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Speaker of the Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko, senior members of government and civil society representatives.

Key topics of his talks include relations with Council of Europe, democratic security and human rights.

The Secretary General will address the annual conference of the Russian Federal and Regional Ombudsmen on 7 December.

On the same day, he will host a reception and give a speech on the occasion of International Human Rights Day at the Council of Europe Office in Moscow.
