The distribution support agreement has been modified as from 1 July 2010

Article III introduced from now on that the request for extension has to be submitted two weeks before the expiry date of the agreement.

Article IV introduced the obligation for the distributor to provide the press cuttings confirming the release of the film in the territory.

2 films supported by Eurimages in international competition at the Locarno Festival

16/07/2010 – Two films supported by Eurimages have been selected in international competition at the Locarno Festival which will be held from 4 to 18 August 2010:
White White World by Oleg Novkovic (RS, SE, DE)
and Womb by Benedek Fliegauf (DE, HU, FR)

Eurimages at the Karlovy Vary Festival

13/07/2010 -The 45th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival which took place from 2 to 10 July 2010 presented audiences with a wide selection of the best new European cinema, including four co-productions supported by Eurimages:
- in official competition: 3 Seasons in Hell by Tomáš Mašín (CZ, DE, SK) and Just between us by Rajko Grlić (HR, SI, RS) and
- in the competition "East of the West" : Aurora by Cristi Puiu (RO, FR, DE, CH) – selected at the last Cannes Festival - and The Temptation of St. Tony by Veiko Õunpuu (EE, SE, FIN) – in competition at Sundance -.
The award for Best Director went to Rajko Grlić for his bittersweet film Just Between us, starring Miki Manojlović as an aging Lothario. Just Between Us also received the Europa Cinemas Label and will receive promotional support and be screened at cinemas in the Europa Cinemas network.
In the festival's East of the West competition Cristi Puiu's Aurora won the top prize, with Special Mention going to Veiko Õunpuu's The Temptation of St. Tony.

The Eurimages Prize for the Development of Co-production

29/06/2010 – Eurimages has created three Eurimages Prizes for the Development of Co-production: aimed to encourage the co-production in the very first stages of the project, these three prizes, amounting to 30 000 euros each, will be awarded at the close of the co-production markets which will take place during the Festivals of Rotterdam (CineMart), Sarajevo (CineLink) and Rome (New Cinema Network). The first prize will be awarded during the next Festival of Sarajevo (Festival’s website) where the co-production market CineLink will be held from 28 to 31 July 2010.

Support Decisions

21/06/2010 -  At its 119th meeting held from 14 to 17 June 2010 in Hamburg, the Board of Management of the Council of Europe's Eurimages Fund agreed to support 14 feature films for co-production. It also gave its support to 45 projects for distribution. (Press release)

Special Distinction for Eurimages at the Animation Film Festival of Annecy

16/06/2010 - The French-Italian co-production, Kerity la Maison des contes (Eleanor’s Secret) by Dominique Monféry, supported by Eurimages, received the Special Jury Prize at the Animation Film Festival which came to a close on 12 June 2010 in Annecy. Meeting of the Eurimages Board of Management in Hamburg

15/06/2010 - The Eurimages Board of Management met in Hamburg from 14 to 17 June 2010 and was received at the Hamburg town hall on 14 June 2010 by the German authorities. The President Jobst Plog expressed his pleasure in welcoming the Board members and  Secretariat to his home town and to his country where the Board of Management met once previously in Munich 18 years ago. The Board of Management will end its stay in Hamburg with its annual policy meeting on 17 June 2010.

Eurimages at the Cannes Film Festival 2010

24/05/2010 - The traditional Eurimages cocktail, organised each year in collaboration with the Producers' Network, took place on Saturday 15 May from 5 to 7.00 pm at the Plage des Palmes, bringing together almost a thousand European audiovisual industry professionals. The President of the Fund Mr Jobst Plog and the Executive Director Mr Roberto Olla were delighted with this extremely successful annual rendez-vous and the fruitful co-operation with the Producers' Network team.
The co-production Le quattro volte by Michelangelo Frammartino, supported by Eurimages and selected by the Directors' Fortnight, was awarded the Europa Cinemas Label for Best European Film. Thus, the film will receive the support of the Europa Cinemas exhibitors with an extended run and additional promotion across the network.
