Changes within the Eurimages Secretariat

For information, please note that Mr Adrian Butler no longer works for Eurimages and that all his files are now being dealt with by Mrs Licia Eminenti (contact).

The Executive Director Roberto Olla, his deputy Isabel Castro and the whole Eurimages Secretariat are greatly saddened to hear of the death of Gianni Massaro. Gianni Massaro was President of the Board of Management of Eurimages from 27 January 1999 to 2 October 2002. He was renowned for his substantial experience in the European cinematographic and audiovisual industry, where he held many different posts throughout his career, and was also appreciated by the members of the Board and the Secretariat for his kindness and generosity, which made him such a likeable person.

The President and the members of the Board of Management join with the Secretariat in expressing their deep affection to Gianni Massaro's family and offer them their sincere condolences.

Another Golden Bear for Eurimages!

20/02/2010 – The Golden Bear at the 60th Berlinale film festival was awarded to the German-Turkish co-production "Bal (Honey)", directed by Semih Kaplanoglu and supported by Eurimages. This film, which closes his autobiographical "Yusuf Trilogy" following Yumurta/Egg and Süt/Milk and tells the story of a child who learns about the mysteries of nature from his bee-keeping father, also received the Ecumenical Jury Prize. The film was produced by the director in co-production with Germany’s Johannes Rexin and Bettina Brokemper for Heimatfilm. The award of the prize to this talented director is also a reward for the choices made by the Eurimages Fund, which previously supported Semih Kaplanoglu's film Melegin Düsüsü in 2003 before the production of all three films in the trilogy. For more information, see www.berlinale.de.

Triumph for the Eurimages' supported co-production The White Ribbon

Strasbourg, 18/01/2010 –After its Palme d'Or and EFA win, this superb rural thriller, exploring the evil in man and set in pre-First World War Germany, has just scooped the Golden Globe for Best Foreign-language Film. This leads us to predict that this German/Austrian/French/Italian co-production will be a favourite for the Oscar nominations in the same category!
