[25.09.2011] The Double Steps wins the Golden Shell - The Jury of the 59th San Sebastian Film Festival decided to award its first prize, the Golden Shell, to the film The Double Steps (Los Pasos Dobles) by Isaki Lacuesta, a co-production between Spain and Switzerland supported by Eurimages.


[18.08.2011] Din dragoste cu cele mai bune intentii (Best Intentions) received two awards in Locarno - The Jury of the 64th Locarno Film Festival which came to a close on 13 August 2011 awarded the prizes for Best  Director (Adrian Sitaru) and Best Actor in a Leading Role (Bogdan Dumitrache) to the film Din dragoste cu cele mai bune intentii (Best Intentions), a co-production between Romania and Hungary supported by Eurimages. The list of award winners can be found on the Festival’s website.

[04.08.2011]Eurimages Co-production Development Prize awarded in Sarajevo - The fourth Eurimages Co-Production Development Prize awarded at the close of the CineLink on 30 July 2011, went to the project Yozgat Blues by Mahmut Fazil Coskun, produced by the company Hokus Fokus Film (Turkey).
The award, a cash prize of 30 000 euros, has been created to encourage European co-production from the initial stages of the project.

The film Child Miner by Alexandra Gulea, a co-production between Romania, Germany and France, supported by Eurimages, received a Cinelink Work in Progress award, The Restart Award, an in kind support of 20 000 euros.

The next Eurimages Co-Production Development Prize will be awarded in New Cinema Network at Rome Film Festival.

[23.05.2011] - 5 Eurimages Films win Awards in Cannes - The 2011 Cannes Film Festival jury has awarded the Grand Prix to two films supported by Eurimages: Le Gamin au vélo (The Kid with the Bike) by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, a Belgian, French and Italian co-production, and Bir Zamanlar Anadolu'da (Once upon a time in Anatolia) by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, a co-production between Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The American actress Kirsten Dunst won the Best Actress prize for Melancholia by Lars Von Trier, a Danish, German, French and Swedish co-production supported by Eurimages. The Danish director’s films have frequently been selected at the Cannes Film Festival, incuding several that have been supported by Eurimages.

Two further Eurimages-supported films were distinguished by other juries at the Festival: L’Exercice de l’Etat (The Minister) by Pierre Schoeller, a French and Belgian co-production, won the International Critics’ Prize (FIPRESCI) for the Un Certain Regard selection, while the Ecumenical Jury awarded its prize to This must be the place, an Italian, French and Irish co-production by Paolo Sorrentino.

All of the co-productions that won awards at this year’s Cannes Film Festival were supported by Eurimages. Through such masterpieces, which illustrate Europe’s rich cultural diversity, the Fund has once again demonstrated its commitment to creative cinema, confirming once the value of the Eurimages label.


[19.04.2011] International Istanbul Film Festival: "As if I'm not there" wins the FACE Award of the Council of Europe - During the closing ceremony of the 30th International Istanbul Film Festival which took place on 16 April, the president of the FACE Jury, and the recipient of last year’s FACE Award with his film Ajami, Mr Scandar Copti, presented the 5th Council of Europe Film Award (FACE) to Juanita Wilson, director of the film “As if I’m not there”.

Another Eurimages film was awarded in the Istanbul Film Festival: Bizim Büyük Çaresizliğimiz - Our grand despair by Seyfi Teoman for the Special Jury Prize in the Golden Tulip International Competition, ex-aequo ; This film also received the Best Director of Photography award in National Competition and The People's Choice Award in International Competition.

FACE is an award presented each year, during the Istanbul Festival, to a film director who has particularly raised public awareness of human rights issues, thereby promoting greater understanding of their importance. The winner receives a bronze sculpture and a cash prize of 10 000 euros, jointly awarded with Eurimages.

[21.02.2011] The Jury Grand Prize for "The Turin Horse" by Béla Tarr in Berlin - The Berlin International Film Festival which ended last Saturday has rewarded four Eurimages supported films:
"A Torinói Ló (The Turin Horse)" by Béla Tarr, a co-production between Hungary, Switzerland, Germany and France, received the Silver Bear - Jury Grand Prize as well as the FIPRESCI Prize for the Competition;
the FIPRESCI Prize for the Panorama section went to the Franco-Luxemburguish co-production “Dernier étage gauche gauche” by Angelo Cianci;
“También la lluvia (Even The Rain)” by Icíar Bollaín, a co-production between Spain, France and Mexico, was awarded the Panorama Audience Award PPP - fiction film and the members of the Forum-Jury awarded the C.I.C.A.E. ("Cinémas d'Art et d'Essai") Prize to the co-production “Amnesty” by Bujar Alemani (Albania, Greece, France).

[15.02.2011] 2 Eurimages films awarded at the 25th edition of the Goyas - During the ceremony of the Spanish Film Awards (Goyas) which took place on 13 February 2011 in Madrid, two Eurimages-supported films received the following awards:

The Prize for Best New Director was awarded to David Pinillos for Bon Appetit (Stories for friends who kiss), a co-production between Spain, Germany and Switzerland.

The Prize for Best Production Supervision was awarded to Cristina Zumárraga for the film También la Lluvia (Even the Rain), by Iciar Bollain a co-production between Spain, Mexico and France. This film also received the Prize for Best Supporting Actor which went to Karra Elejalde and the Prize for Best Original Music which was awarded to Alberto Iglesias.

[10.02.2011] - 4 Eurimages films awarded at the "1st Magritte du Cinéma" - The “1st Magritte du cinéma” awarded on 5 February 2011 in Brussels rewarded various Eurimages supported films:
Mr Nobody, by Jaco Van Dormael (Belgium), a co-production between Belgium, Canada, Germany and France received the prize for Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay or Adaptation, Best Image (Christophe Beaucarne), Best Music (Pierre van Dormael) and Best Editing (Matyas Veress), representing a total of 6 Magritte.
The film Elève libre, by Joachim Lafosse (Belgium), a co-production between Belgium and France was rewarded with the prize for Best Actor (Jonathan Zaccaï) and for Best Female Newcomer (Pauline Etienne).
The prize for Best Male Newcomer  was awarded to Joffrey Verbruggen for his interpretation in La Régate, by Bernard Bellefroid (Belgium), a co-production between Belgium, Luxembourg and France.
Finally, the Prize for Best Costumes was awarded to Christophe Pidre and Florence Scholtes for the film Soeur Sourire by Stijn Coninx (Belgium), a co-production between France and Belgium.

[04.02.2011] - Eurimages at the Rotterdam International Film Festival - The third Eurimages Prize for the Development of Co-production awarded at the close of the CineMart on 2 February 2011 in Rotterdam, went to the project Kid by Fien Troch,  a production of Prime Time (Belgium). 
Kid is a happy seven year-old boy who feels safe at home and loved by his mother, even though being a single mom isn’t easy for her. When his mother dies, Kid has to face the fears and anxieties of this world. Little by little he starts alienating from the people around him and harbours the hope of finding his mother again.
Fien Troch’s second feature Unspoken (2008) was presented at CineMart 2007 and screened in Rotterdam in 2009. Unspoken’s leading lady Emmanuelle Devos received the Best Actress Award at the Torino Film Festival.
