Conference on “The CAHDI contribution to the development of public international law: achievements and future challenges”

A Conference on “The CAHDI contribution to the development of public international law: achievements and future challenges” has been held on 23 September 2015 in Strasbourg on the occasion of the 50th meeting of the Committee of Legal Advisers on Public International Law (CAHDI). This Conference brought together the former Chairs and Vice-Chairs of the Committee who presented the main achievements of the CAHDI during their respective chairmanships and held an exchange of views on the role and the future work of the CAHDI.

The aim of this Conference was to highlight the main contributions of this Committee to the development of public international law since its establishment in 1991 as well as its possible future contributions in light of the changes and challenges faced by the international community over the past 24 years. Furthermore, it was intended to foster an enriching dialogue between the former and current Legal Advisers of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Council of Europe member and observer States to the CAHDI as well as representatives of the international organisations with observer status to the CAHDI.
