Turkey ratifies and the Czech Republic signs the Convention

On 2 May 2016 Turkey ratified the Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings. The Convention will enter into force as regards Turkey on 1 September 2016.

On the same day the Czech Republic signed the Convention.

The Convention has now been ratified by 45 Council of Europe member States: Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Greece, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Republic of Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

Further, Belarus acceded to the Convention on 26 November 2013, thus becoming the first country outside the Council of Europe to join the Convention.
