Committee of the Parties
The Committee of the Parties of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings is composed of the representatives in the Committee of Ministers of the Parties to the Convention and of representatives of Parties non-members of the Council of Europe.
Recommendations to Parties
The Committee of the Parties may, on the basis of the report and conclusions of the Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA), make recommendations to a Party concerning the measures to be taken as a follow-up to GRETA’s Report.
Chair and Vice-Chair
The Committee of the Parties elects a Chair and Vice-Chair for a term of office of one year, renewable once. On 16 June 2023, Maria Spassova, Permanent Representative of Bulgaria to the Council of Europe, was elected as Chair for a first term of office, and Jean-Cedric Janssens de Bisthoven, Permanent Representative of Belgium, as Vice-Chair for a first term of office.
Election of GRETA members
On 24 October 2013, the Committee of Ministers adopted Resolution CM/Res(2013)28 on rules on the election procedure of the members of the Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA).
Forthcoming election of GRETA members : 35th meeting of the Committee of the Parties
The terms of office of 8 of the 15 current members of the Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) will expire on 31 December 2024.
The elections to fill the vacant seats will be held at the 35th meeting of the Committee of the Parties of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings on 29 November 2024.
The deadline for nominating candidates for membership in GRETA was fixed at 29 September 2024. 18 State Parties to the Convention have proposed candidates for the election. Their CVs can be consulted in the link below.
