MOTIVATION

Chair of the Education and Culture Committee;
Member of the Bureau of the Council of Europe Steering Committee for Educational Policy and Practice;
Education inspector (Rhineland Palatinate, Germany).

INGOs must be agents for change.

There are many in the education sector who believe that striving to repair the existing model is no longer enough; we need to change it with a paradigm shift. That is why our committee joined forces with the Pestalozzi Programme in April to host the conference on “The professional image and ethos of teachers in the 21st century”, which was a great success. The conference could not have been held without the prior discussions in our working groups, your input and your preliminary work.

Thank you for your valued support!

Young people are Europe’s window to the future.

Civil society will live up to the promise in every young person if it helps to pass on to them the values of inclusive, active democratic citizenship that respects human rights, while unleashing their potential for playing an active part in society.

Culture is also undergoing a period of radical transformation.

This demands adjustments and new regulations for adapting to the digital era. To address the relevant issues, it is necessary to work together with all those who represent the cultural forces in civil society.

Those are the key challenges facing us in the area of youth and culture. If you place your trust in me for a new term as Chair, I will do my utmost to pursue and carry forward the objectives we have shared over the past three years.
